[mintmenu] mintMenu stops gnome panel autohide

Bug Description

When I have a Gnome panel set to autohide and open the mintMenu it keeps the panel open, which is good, but when the menu closes it does not hide the panel also. So to hide it you have to move the mouse over and off the panel.
I like to keep everything out of the way and this is just a little thing that bugs me.

I'm using Isadora.

Hey Jacob, thanks for reporting this!

I've confirmed for LMDE as well. Assigning to clem to investigate.

Thank you again!

I have perhaps the same problem. If I invoke the fancy mintMenu on the panel and then escape out wIthout opening any new applications, the panel continues to hide properly. Similarly, if I alt-f1 to get the plain popup menu, and then escape out without opening any applications, the panel continues to hide properly

But if I open any application, using either menu or the command line, the panel stops hiding. If I then the kill mate-panel process, a new panel instance appears which hides properly until I open another app, whereupon it too stops hiding. I can go on like this all day.

I'm running a fully dist-upgraded Mint 14 on a Samsung NC-10 netbook with a 1200x600 screen.

Other than that little quirk my Mint 14 is perfect afaik

2.5 years and counting. Odd. I would have thought a lot of people would be affected by a bug like this.

Is this still a bug in a currently supported Mint release (Maya, Nadia, Petra)? If not, this report should be marked as Invalid

Yes, this bug is still actual!
I've confirmed for Maya, Olivia (14, 15), Mate edition.
"If Gnome panel set to autohide and open the mintMenu it keeps the panel open, which is good, but when the menu closes it does not hide the panel also. So to hide it you have to move the mouse over and off the panel."
Bug shows up in simmilar cases, not just mintMenu, if you click at e.g. clock/calendar, wifi, battery or any any other tray icon, and then click somewhere else (but *not* again on panel), it remains open.

The same problem on two different comupters (one of them is actually a laptop).
Problem occured in Mint 13 Maya LTS and still occurs in v17 LTS.
Annoying.

Coming up on 8 years now and the bug persists: the first invocation of the alt-F1 popup menu stops the panel from autohiding.

This might be some kind of record :-)
