Notice that the issue is still unsolved in Linux Mint 10 and this is not a problem of a particular language.

I have checked that the problem exists also in the official Chinese language version of Linux Mint on Live CD (!) and this is reported to exist in Czech language (both Linux Mint "Classic" and Debian version). I have had no time to test it with all supported languages, but it's pretty obvious that the problem is general.

And I think that this is a serious problem, because Synaptic is THE package manager of Linux Mint, and if the translation of this program isn't correctly managed nor fixable by users, this is really really bad.

It's curious although, that the version of Synaptic in Linux Mint is the same with Ubuntu 10.10 repositories, the translations in Ubuntu are all right whereas in Linux Mint they are flawed. I can only suggest that the package Synaptic itself is somehow defected by Linux Mint by means of some modifications it does to the system.
