ttf-liberation doesn't provide fake-msttcorefonts or fontconfig alias to MS fonts

Bug Description

The ttf-liberation package in Linux Mint doesn't provide a fontconfig replacement for Times New Roman, Arial, and Courier New. These fonts should automatically be replaced with the Liberation fonts; for most applications this can be done with a simple file in /etc/fonts/conf.avail and a symlink in /etc/fonts/conf.d. Once this is done, the package should also provide fake-msttcorefonts so MythTV can use them.

Ignore the previous attachment, this is a tar file with both the file and link to add to the package.

A mod of the package at http://www.rubixlinux.org/debian/ttf-liberation/, with fontconfig replacement files and providing fake-msttcorefonts.

Debian-multimedia has a ttf-liberation package too, and the same fixes could easily be applied to that package. It's not strictly necessary to use mine :)

I looked at ttf-liberation_0.1-0.1_all.deb and it contains not only the fonts but also the mappings in /etc/font/conf.avail and /etc/font/conf.d, and also in /etc/defoma/ttf-liberation.hints. Is that sufficient?

Can you explain more in details what you mean by providing "fake-msttcorefonts"?

Thanks,
Clem.

I e-mailed the debian-multimedia maintainer and it looks like he fixed it there. Now the debian-multimedia package just needs importing into Mint. (And now it provides msttcorefonts, so applications needing MS fonts can use this instead, like MythTV.)

In Elyssa, package was changed to use the one from hardy's repository which seems to set everything right.

Changed in linuxmint:

status: New → Fix Released
