Bug Description

1) The version and edition of Linux Mint you are using (if you are not sure, open a terminal and run "mintwelcome").
Linux Mint 17 64bits - Cinnamon 2.2.13

2) What you did for the problem to happen, and how to reproduce it.
It happens when I start apps , after a boot, that have a systray icon, currently it's happening with Pidgin (2.10.9), Copy.com (1.44.0357), Dropbox.com (2.8.3), Remmina (0.9.99.1).

3) What happened.
The tray icons of the started app don't appear in the systray applet they just leave a blank spot beside the Update Manager icon.
I can have the icons show up, by either restarting the app, or by removing the systray applet and put it back in the panel.

4) What you expected to happen instead.
I expect the icons to appear

5) If the problem happened once, sometimes, or always.
Always after a boot/reboot of my system.

Same problem also affects me.
No system tray icon for DropBox, but also Update Manager.

Using Linux Mint 17 with all updates applied. Cinnamon 2.2.16.

1. Pidgin icon doesn't appear when Pidgin is started.

2. It appears on restarting Cinnamon from Alt-F2 - R Enter or if I toggle the size options in Panel settings ("Allow Cinnamon to scale panel text" or "Use customized panel size" - whichever causes the pnael to redraw.

3. I have set the icon to blink on new message. Very often, the icon disappears in this situation.

4. Deluge icon is set to blink when a torrent completes. It too disappears.

Same problem, unfortunately :/
Even the update manager's tray icon isn't shown.

However, the icon appears when I task-kill and restart each program.

Adding "Startup delay" in "Startup Applications" worked for me as temporary fix. Try it out!
