Bug Description

The internal speakers work fine, but the headphone sound only works intermittently. When the headphone sound is absent, the only solution that works is a reboot which would usually get them working again. Many hours spent trying all the solutions on-line seem to make no difference. However, since 48 hours, they don't work at all, even after rebooting many many times. Dual-boot Windows system has working sound.

This has been a consistent problem since I got this lap-top. Initially, I had installed Unbuntu 12.4, Mint 14/13 (all 64-bit) and encountered the same intermittent headphone sound problem in all OS's.

Currently I have Linux Mint 13 with Cinnamon 64-bit. Laptop is Asus K55A-DB71-CA.

The draw back?

You have to repeat the process again when the system is restarted.
