mate-screenshot takes partially black screenshots on multi-monitor xinerama

mate-screenshot is taking area screenshots with a black band on my multi-monitor xinerama system. Screenshots may also be totally black, depending on where they are taken.

Aligning the tops of the screens fixes the problem, but since my monitors are not physically at the same height this isn't great.

This appears to be the same bug as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-utils/+bug/379382. The comments suggest it is fixed in gnome-utils 2.30.0-0ubuntu1.1, but it certainly isn't fixed in my mate-utils 1.2.0-2+precise package, and the changelog entry shown at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-utils/+bug/379382/comments/31 is not present in mate-utils' changelog.
