Can't add printer

Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon, fresh install, in spanish. I have three network printers (two Canon, one Dell). Print applet in system settings won't allow me to add a printer.

I solved it using the CUPS localhost:631 setup; using the system-config-printer command worked too.

Long story short, some time ago, Gnome developers added a patch without considering that FirewallD is specific to Fedora/RedHat users, and that Ubuntu and it's derivatives use upstart instead.

This happens with both Mint 14 Nadia Cinnamon 64 & Mint 15 Olivia Cinnamon 64 versions. After adding my Epson Workforce 520 printer using the fix: system-config-printer , the printer prints blank pages only from within Nadia / Olivia, where it worked consistently prior to this error. The same printer will print using the same network via my android phone using Epson's iPhone app from the google play store just fine. Also the scanner is working across the network, and the printer prints network settings locally also perfectly. I don't know if this is because of this bug, or not, but something has to have changed withing Nadia / Olivia 64 Cinnamon recently. I checked the original https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/871985 which seems to blame it on gnome, but no reports of printing blank pages. I have uninstalled / purged the drivers and reinstalled them, but they aren't working like they were before this bug.
