I'm not using an initrd and the driver is built-in.
I'm pretty sure I didn't forget to copy the built kernel image and rerun lilo before rebooting.
Anyhow, I've just sent 2 patches which make 2 out of the 3 manual steps obsolete and hopefully would make WoL work not only for me.

Maybe the shutdown handler in François Romieu's series will fill the missing part for shutdown I mention in the email...
