For me it's weird that we get a board with an internal ethernet chip without a valid mac address by default. Probably they are not worried about getting a mac and writing it at the eeprom.

You could add another flag to say the device is not host-to-host, but it'd be better to talk with the usbnet driver's maintainers first.
