This is a hard bug...

From my extensive testing and tweaking Even when one literally modifiys nothing on the default Ambiance Theme and simply copys and pastes it and renames it to Ambiance2 that issue appears. very frustrating to us as well. it's a bug in nautilus.

Funny thing I don't recommended doing this but if you overwrite Ambiance with one of the color themes it works just fine. to do this you have to rename the folder and edit the index file and metacity name file.

Also works like a charm on Nemo.

Perhaps if we rewrite that part ourselves it will work. I'm not sure what else could be down. someone help us! :)

I don't know if this is gonna be a bug in the next version of Files they use. I keep coming back to try and fix this but it's hard to fix a issue you did not cause in theme code.
