Bug Description

In Breezy's desktop-switcher applet, applications that are running in full screen will have their icon shown in the desktop switcher.

Dapper (Flight5 LiveCD) does not to this, which makes using multiple desktops slightly less convenient.

Is this a regression, or has this function been removed for some reason?

I am in dapper via dist-upgrade. I noticed this had occurred sometime in the past fortnight or so. Cannot place exact date as I believe it took a few days for me to notice this.

I have confirmed this - it is indeed a feature that is missing. Cannot find any preferences or configuration to enable/disable this feature.

Thanks for your bug. Could you make a screenshot of the issue? What panel width are you using? When you use a fullscreen app you don't have any panel or applet, maybe you speak about maximized window rather?

Here's a screenshot of my current Breezy desktop; notice the Opera, XChat & Nautilus icons in the first three desktops, and the Synatic icon in the last.

And yes, I mean maximized window apps, not strictly speaking fullscreen.

My resolution is 1280x1024; Gnome's panel setup is stock Ubuntu.

I'll run a Dapper Flight5 LiveCD tomorrow and get a screenshot from it to compare.

(Is it possible to attach files to comments in Malone, rather than having to leave that image on my webspace?)

Thank you for the screenshot. The right frame has a "Add Attachment" option, you can use it for that. You have icons with dapper too but it depends of the width of the panel

The feature has not been dropped but it's broken with the 24 pixels default configuration, it works if you use a 48 pixels panel by example. I've forwarded it upstream: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=335333

I've just tried the Dapper Flight6 LiveCD, and if you take the lower panel up to 26px high (the default is still 24px) you get app icons back... Very odd regression.

Don't know why or when, but since3 or 4 days the desktop-switcher applet has started acting like it used on Breezy, so now the icons for maximized windows appears as usually.

Crazy, but after two hours or so, the icons on applet has just dissapeared... Don't know what's happening...

Hi, I wanted to bring this bug back now that Dapper has been released for more than half a year. Right now I can see the icons of the maximized windows in the workspace switcher. But every now and then they just disappear and only come back the following xsession.
