Yes to all of the above.

Frankly, I like having the status and importance in separate, adjacent columns. If column space is that precious, perhaps move the heat indicators from the right hand side to down underneath importance?

Then, if there is a bug with high heat that isn't high/critical importance, this discrepancy will stand out visibly (as it should). And high/critical bugs with high heat will show a heap-load of red color which will make them look especially urgent.
