Here are some aspects to my request:

- Sorting by the most recent translatable projects would give insight to translators of new interesting projects which otherwise won't be easily noticed

- Sorting by the most recent template updates would help seeing which projects are active and need help with translations

- Sorting by the projects which I've contributed to would be very helpful to track the status of projects that I'm interested of (or have been). This filtering combined with template updates would be a very nice feature. Add e-mail notices/RSS and one wouldn't miss an update!

- Sorting by untranslatable/reviewable strings in <language> would show which projects lack manpower in <language> and thus would help the project itself in getting new translators/translations. Same applies to projects which don't have any translated strings in <language>.

- "Sorting by Featured projects" would be a feature which needs more discussion. The main idea would be that Launchpad translators could discuss the upcoming major releases of projects and that way promote them to special "Featured projects" page when the upcoming (major) release is translatable (and probably in alpha/beta stage).

- There could also be a way to sort projects which don't require being a member of certain group (Launchpad translators/Language group etc.)

My main criticism currently is that I can't easily track projects which I've contributed to and track their status/help translating before major releases. It's basically up to the project maintainers if they realize to post to Launchpad translators mailing list (and/or use Launchpad's Announcements) and ask for help before releasing a new version.
