Bug Description

If one changes the Status or Importance of a bug and then decides to comment on the bug by clicking on the bug task commenting thing (for lack of a better word) these changes are reflected in the revealed Status and Importance drop down boxes. However, this is not the case with the assignee.

Subsequently, one could end up in a situation where they thought they had assigned someone a bug report and in fact they didn't. This could be a huge blind-spot in bug work flows especially for Ubuntu where there are a large volume of bug reports and bugs that should have been assigned to someone but weren't are easily missed.

I'll attach a picture in case I am being unclear.

My feeling is that this form should go away. We can't do that until we fix bug 471328, which seems a better use of our time. Once the work around is not needed, we could remove the expandable form on the bugtask table and fix this bug as well as bug 57414.

Is there any reason this expandable task table form should stay around?

Changed in malone:
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → Low

There is still no AJAX support for changing the target of distribution or source package tasks, and the project search widget is utterly useless for many cases.

We know about the former and I hope we will get to fix it soon. I think we should hear more specifics about the latter (perhaps in a different bug).

I would guess wgrant is talking about the various search issues with the vocabulary picker as seen in bugs like bug 471328, bug 438540, and bug 487758. I'm sure there are a couple more, but I didn't track them all down.

Cheers,

Also, thanks wgrant, for reminding about the target to distribution/package issue. I had forgot and that's a big one. I need to make a "what it takes to remove the expandable form" wiki page somewhere. We had another issue with that this morning and bug watches because it gets out of sync easily with other work on lp bugs.
