The DSP index does allow the user to set the upstream link. The upstream project information comes from the current series. Do you mean the page have a link in the upstream project section that is the same link as the current series?

A page like https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox knows that it is linked to the Firefox project (it displays the description and logo), but does not link to it. It knows precisely which project it needs to link to, so adding a link should be trivial.
