Bug Description

This is a usability issue, rather than a technical one.

If you go to the ubuntu project and search for a bug with "Samsung Q210", you get no results. It would appear that there have never been bugs concerning this laptop. If you click on advanced, selected "Fix Released" and search again, the bugs are shown.

It is clear that within the search there are a number of statuses that will appear in the default search, but these are not represented on any of the pages, the user is left to guess which will be shown.

A similar problem exists on https://bugs.launchpad.net/~user, with the closed bugs not being shown, with no explanation why. (Especially confused as "List all related bugs" is selected)

Proposed fixes:
  1) On the main bugs page (bugs.launchpad.net/project) it should clearly say "Search open bugs"
  2) On the advanced search page, within the "Status and importance" section, those statuses that are searched by default should be ticked when the page is loaded.

Those two changes should clear up any ambiguity.

The problem with person Bugs pages in particular is bug 5977.
Misleading status checkboxes on the advanced search page is bug 150867.
And the difficulty of switching to a search that includes closed bug reports too is bug 277352.
