I didn't understand anything about GPG key... I'm new in Launchpad and I found an "Edit GPG Keys", I clicked the link. The page just doesn't say what is a GPG key. What is it?
The page also doesn't explain well how do I "import" one. You say "use gpg --gen-key" and "use gpg --send-key <key-id>" and "gpg --fingerprint <key-id>". What does it mean? How or where should I "use" it? |
Launchpad needs a reworking of the way it explains GPG and OpenPGP keys.
* "Edit GPG Keys" (and "Edit SSH Keys") should be reworded, because you're not editing keys, you're registering/unregistering keys with Launchpad.
* +editgpgkeys explains why Launchpad uses keys, but doesn't explain what they are.
* +editgpgkeys needs to make explicit that the suggested command lines are to be entered in a terminal window. |

The menu items are now "OpenPGP Keys" and "SSH Keys". The intro paragraph defines OpenPGP keys partially by their use and partially by what creates them. And I've just committed a fix that tidies up the page and makes it clear that the commands should be entered in a terminal. |
