looking at https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/python-launchpad-bugs the 'open' checkbox is enabled there by default, but obviously the open question https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/python-launchpad-bugs/+question/38812 is not listed there.

but after clicking on search the enabled checkboxes are respected correctly. This should be the default.
