Answers does not state the languages used to filter the question listing

looking at https://answers.launchpad.net/python-launchpad-bugs the 'open' checkbox is enabled there by default, but obviously the open question https://answers.launchpad.net/python-launchpad-bugs/+question/38812 is not listed there.

but after clicking on search the enabled checkboxes are respected correctly. This should be the default.

I attached a small video to show what I mean.
visiting the default answers url for a project does not show any results, although the checkboxes are enabled. Clicking on 'search' returns the result I would expect to be shown as default.

Thanks for the video! I can't reproduce it here, the question is listed for me in when I click the Answers tab.

I wonder if this is related to preferred languages. I have Brazilian Portuguese, English and English (UK) selected in my https://edge.launchpad.net/~matsubara/+editlanguages

What do you have in yours?

Hi Markus,

I confirmed the behaviour with the Answer tracker developer, Curtis Hovey.
When you set your preferred languages to German and German, Low, Launchpad will only display questions on those languages to you, hence question 38812 not showing you by default.

Since you expect to see English questions there, I suggest you to include English in your preferred languages settings <https://launchpad.net/people/+me/+editlanguages>

Thanks, for you explanation, yes I helps to understand how this page currently works, but I still think it's a bug, maybe a UI bug. There is no hint on the page that only Answers in my preferred language are shown. But the biggest issue is: Why does clicking on search change the behaviour of this page, now questions in all languages are shown, again without any further notice like "there is no open question in you preferred language -> all questions matching the search pattern are shown"

I think this is a fundamental UI issue and its importance is definitely higher than "Low". It took me more than 2 years to figure out that I had to include English in my preferred languages in order to see the questions right away.
