Launchpad as an OpenID provider doesn't open any security problems. Go for it.

I'd very much like to be able to see a consumer implementation too, but IMHO the provider authentication policy extension documents a sufficient level of additional trust.

In fact, that would allow us to implement stronger security in launchpad, without ourselves handling the nitty gritty details of mailing yet another one time password generator keyfob to everybody -- after all, people like me, who want/need the additional security, already have one. ;-)
