Comment 16 for bug 1169

Hi, I wanted to give all you subscribers some additional details, especially since many of you pinged me today on irc.

We're working towards Launchpad providing OpenID but we don't want to announce anything official until we have something that we can offer everyone to use.

We're starting with some evaluations. Specifically, we've been working on connecting Launchpad to services that Canonical is directly involved in. We want to ensure our code is robust and we also want to gradually scale up it's usage and evaluate it's performance.

The next stage is allowing people to use their Launchpad OpenID with any OpenID enabled services. We expect to be announcing that before the end of the year, but can't say exactly when as we are still performing the above mentioned evaluations.
