I tried many times, thinking it was a timeout or such, the day the milestone was released. Then I tried a different file, unrelated files, old milestone releases I re-downloaded from Launchpad, etc. Then a few more days after that to see if it was sporadic.

Also me, trying to attach an example file to a comment on this bug. Though I don't suspect it is a file specific problem, as all of the zips I have tried yield the error.

Yes. The two tar.gz files on the milestone were uploaded from the same OS/browser combo:

Yep. The same exact zip files upload fine from Chrome. I didn't think to try another browser until Laura linked to bug423880.
