Bug Description

As the title says. These stats are available via api, but things have been broken since the 20th or the 21st of May.

The script used for grabbing the data is attached to this bug report. Normally this would output <packagename> <packageversion> <count> on a single line for the queried ppa, now it only returns a zero on a line by itself, times the number of binary packages in that ppa.

Running the attached script locally with the example params, I get:

$ simple/ppastats/ppastats.py webupd8team y-ppa-manager maverick amd64
launchpad-getkeys 0.3.2-1~webupd8~maverick 2204
ppa-purge 0.2.8+bzr56~webupd8~maverick 4490
y-ppa-manager 0.0.8.5-1~webupd8~maverick 2413
yad 0.17.1.1-1~webupd8~maverick 254

Is this the expected output?

So, the stats work but haven't been updated since the 21st when the cron job for updating them was disabled due to load issues on the ppa.launchpad.net box. Until that issue is resolved (perhaps by new hardware, which there is a ticket for) download counts will remain at zero.

Expected output would look like that, except that the "webupd8team y-ppa-manager maverick amd64" ppa in the example hasn't received any recent updates and possible has not seen any use since problems started, so output may look fine (and be based on stats collected prior to onset of trouble).

Compare those examples for my own ppa, where oneiric gets regular updates and sees active use - while gutsy obviously doesn't:

$ python ppastats.py jcfp ppa gutsy i386
sabnzbdplus 0.4.12-0ubuntu1~jcfp3~gutsy 27
sabnzbdplus-theme-iphone 0.4.12-0ubuntu1~jcfp3~gutsy 6
sabnzbdplus-theme-plush 0.4.12-0ubuntu1~jcfp3~gutsy 9
sabnzbdplus-theme-smpl 0.4.12-0ubuntu1~jcfp3~gutsy 16

$ python ppastats.py jcfp ppa oneiric i386

Lots of zeros for the libreoffice ppas too. Possible hint: A cause might also be that deleting packages confuses launchpad/ppastats.

PPAs to try:

 libreoffice ppa
 libreoffice libreoffice-prereleases

both should be rather active ...

We've reenabled the collection script, and we'll watch the load closely over the next couple of days. If it all continues to go well, new data should be appearing as normal, and the missing month should be filled in over the next 1-2 weeks.

Looks like it's disabled again?

Bummer, we really love using this API. Hopefully someone can get it back online. BTW, the missing data from May/June does not seem to be filled in still.

Yes, you can see both problems on this page for example: http://wpitchoune.net/ppastats/ppa/bumblebee/stable/.
