I agree with you.

a) An answer contact daily receive an huge amount of mail from launchpad.
b) It is impossible to be 24/24 answering to questions.
c) regularly we must clean the incoming mail from launchpad i can't keep more than 2 or 3 days of traffic.

Sometimes i read answers already answered still in open state.
The answer contact for Ubuntu users cannot see them until they are discarded from Launchpad Janitor.

We need more states on a question assigned automatically from Launchpad system, something like this:

days= current day - date asked

green : fresh not solved in open status question asked days < 5 days from current time
orange : open question not solved asked days > 5 and days < 10 days
red : open question asked days > 10 and days < 15 days

The system might be send to the contact users a report when a question change status from orange to red status.

The Launchpad notification of dead answers >15 days is not so useful to us.
