Does kupfer produce any output when this happens? Anything similar to "WARNING **: Binding '<Control>space' failed!" ?

It can be that there is a bug in libkeybinder or something that libkeybinder uses. I'll need someone affected to compile libkeybinder manually using "make CFLAGS=-DDEBUG=1" to produce a library with debug output.
