Now when I try to collect more info, and to see if it's affected by the aliasing settings, it works fine. I *believe* what happened was I had launched KiCad before connecting the external display. There's definitely something more peculiar going on than merely refusing to drag between displays in general. I did also change the setting for "Spaces" to sync the displays where previously they weren't. I will investigate further to see if I can figure out how to reliably reproduce this...
