As a python plugin developer I already start to be concerned about and test plugin and pythons scripts that interact with KiCad in both Py2 and Py3 (respectively wxPython3 and wxPython4).
Also wxPython 4 use gtk3 (and wxPython3 use gtk2) witch may affect more parts of KiCad for a good migration.
