The amount of work and change it would take to fix this makes it impractical; Fernet tokens will provide a better performing solution that does not suffer from this defect; fernet tokens will be GA faster than we could fix this bug.
With K2K Using SAML, the primary rationale for PKI tokens has gone away, and thus there will be no more fixes for PKI tokens
