Binary package hint: exiv2
The upstream bug report was filed and fixed, it can be found here: http://dev.exiv2.org/issues/show/677 Debian has fixed this as reports were filed for their version of digikam here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=579835
Simply updating libexiv2 and exiv2 will not fix the problem as I've done this using maverick's packages. I believe that libkexiv needs to be updated as well, as I still had the issue.
Please fix this ASAP, the bug causes unbearably slow imports.
