The design in Konsole is to use a mainWindow; which looks suspicious since that behavioral model is different from what I expect for something like Konsole. But its a design that was followed and not easy to refector out. So I don't expect this bug to be fixed until Konsole gets a new and active maintainer.
In all honesty I have to say I don't care for this bug anymore because KWin now has the ability to quickly position + size windows the way I want them by dragging them to an edge. I would remove myself from CC except that I'm not on CC list, but I'm the reporter :P
