Hi, thank you for your report. First, I'd advise you to try with the latest stable version 1.4.1. It is included in the stable ppa, so you will have to add it. If you are not using H264 codec for encoding, then please do so. There were issues reported with VP8/WEBM.

If the problem persist please run kazam with --debug option and try to reproduce the problem, then attach the debug log here.
