I am running gnome, and the authentication window crashes. It won't let me
enter my password when attempting to install the nvidia proprietary driver.
Once the authentication window crashes, the Hardware Drivers window stops
responding

I will run apport when I get home. In brief, when I attempt to activate the
Nvidia driver, the authentication dialog opens prompting me to enter my
password. That dialog box freezes. I cannot enter my password (I've let it
sit over night) and have to force quit the authentication box.

Please submit a crash report bug through Apport, or provide the output if you start "jockey-gtk" in a terminal, and attach /var/log/ jockey. log.
