Tried to manually install the 331.38 Nvidia driver (available as http://www.nvidia.com/content/DriverDownload-March2009/confirmation.php?url=/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/331.38/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-331.38.run&lang=us&type=GeForce) on a Dell E5540 unit equipped with Nvidia GT620M GPU, and got the same

(EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (Compatible NVIDIA X driver not found)

error in /var/log/Xorg.0.log, too.
