I was able to fix this. I am on Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion with Oracle Java 1.7. I found the 1.6 installation on my Mac and switched the Eclipse projects from 1.7 to 1.6. JHelioviewer now works when run from Eclipse.

I think that jogl.jar is incompatible with Java 1.7 on Mac OS X. I'm thinking that because of
