I also encounter this problem intermittently. Inkscape worked fine all day yesterday. Today, it does not.

Refocusing on the window makes it work for a click or two, then it stops again.

I have other users reporting this problem, also on Windows 7.

I have also seen a similar issue in GIMP and other GTK+ applications.
