I was wondering whether the difference between windows and linux behavior could be due to different cairo versions being used (Windows packages 1.5.8), so I upgraded my Fedora 8 system to the 1.5.8 release ( using the F9 packages at http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=33604 ). I can still print and save to PDF. So just confirming that this appears to be a windows-only problem...
