Yes this doesn't make much sense. Should be converted to radio style buttons.

Should be possible, but there are other similar feature requests (bug #627728) so maybe not easy. Let me check into it.

Currently it seems all the other toolbars use the same icon size for normal and stateful buttons. Hence i changed the gradient toolbar to be consistent with the other toolbars.

The goal here is consistency with buttons, comboboxes, spinbuttons and labels having the same height across toolbars. The gradient toolbar is inconsistent (on Ubuntu as least) since the New buttons are unusually small and the Change combobox/button unusually big. The aim was simply to make the Gradient size consistent with the other toolbars, this change should not affect any other toolbar.
