Select everything within path

I would find it very useful if there where a way of drawing a shape and then selecting everything that lies fully within that shape. I would specifically use it in a workflow I use when i am drawing something in perspective, but I see many many applications for it. I do not find any applications with this feature though so it could well be an inkscape first!

(Bug #170260 was never implemented, and 'Touch select' does not offer the requested feature IMHO)

Hi suv.
Bug 894330 is related but is about a dedicated lassotool.
I quess the same operator within inkscape could be used, but I was
thinking of an option where I f.ex. could make a hatching of many
hundred lines, use the "path cut" boolean faeture and then use the
same shape to select all the lines withing the cutted shape.
I know it is not a very important feature bt if you would like a
screenshot with a case just send me a mail :)
