Bug Description

Inkscape 0.48.1 R9760 - Linux Ubuntu

The color palette menu bar at the bottom of the screen has a weird behavior. The effects are random, and I cannot easily force a reproduction of the bug. But I have experienced the following syndromes when right clicking on the color palette:

- The menu does not appear.
- It get confused with the scroll bar. Then playing repetitively with it made inkscape crash.
- It display the end of line marker list (ex: arrow heads) as a menu.

---------------------------------------------------------

Question: Apparently, there is an option to change the color palette size, but I cannot find it. Where is it?

The basic size of the palette depends on the current GTK+ theme. Within Inkscape you can change various parameters of the palette from the palette menu: left-click on the small triangle at the right end of the palette -> see sub-menus 'Size', 'Width' and the toggle 'Wrap', at the top of the menu (above the list of installed color palettes).

Sorry - I missed the first line of the bug description. :(

Which theme and desktop are you using?

Tested with Inkscape 0.48.1 and 0.48.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (GTK+ 2.24.4, various GTK+ themes):

Not reproduced: the context menu of a color swatch in the palette below the canvas area opens as expected when right-clicking on a color swatch (using the 'Inkscape default' palette, but also in the 'Auto' palette when working with custom swatches).

Not been able to reproduce either.

Not been able to reproduce either.

- Which version of GTK+ do you have installed? (This might vary depending on which Ubuntu version you are using).
- Does it make a difference whether you have the Inkscape window maximized (window manager) or in fullscreen mode (Inkscape menu 'View > Fullscreen' or <F11>) or as normal window (not maximized nor full screen)?

How can I tell which GTK version is installed?

I'll check for the windows size, I am normally using a maximised window. I am currently using Gnome Classic.

I just want to add that in fact, it can add any list iin inkscape instead of the right menu. I had a situation where it listed checkboxes with color types (RGB, CMYK, HLS, etc).

I'll try to make some screenshots since it looks funny..

I could not reproduce the wrong LIst bug, but I successfully made it crash. Here is a screen shot:

The crashed occured after the palette stopped responding and then crashed.

I uploaded the backup file here

http://lariennalibrary.com/extern/forum/New%20document%201.2011_10_20_21_47_52.0.svg

I also uploaded another crash backup

http://lariennalibrary.com/extern/forum/New%20document%201.2011_10_16_10_59_34.0.svg

I not sure those file could help, but I uploaded them in case they could be useful.

Hope it helps. I stil have other work to do, if the bug shows up again, I'll post the screenshots.

Which (custom?) GTK+ theme are you using?

As for the GTK, I checked the package manager for lib GTK, I don't know if it's what you are looking for, but here are the versions of the following packages:

libgtk2.0.0 = 2.24.4-0ubuntu2
libgtk2.0-common = 2.24.4-0ubuntu2
libgtk2.0-bin = 2.24.4-0ubuntu2
libgtk2.0-cil = 2.12.10-1ubuntu1

I did not list all the installed packages.

I triggered the bug this morning, but I cannot take screen shots because while the menu is shown, print screen does not work.
It seems to create this behavior when making arrows with line heads and using the extension to make the arrow head the same color than the line. Play with these features and you might trigger the bug.

Is this still a problem with 0.91 or 0.92?
