Bug Description

Since last update - maybe before but I didn't notice it - after opening
± every 20 files, while using filters, some elements are no longer
available for selection. Impossible to modify or delete, but possible to
add elements.
config Mac OS X 10.6.8 / Inkscape 0.48.0

I can give you a file to show example : critique_et_remise_en_question.svg (second layer)

Many thanks in advance for your help !

1) Please upgrade to the latest bug-fix-release first (Inkscape 0.48.2) and test whether the issue persists.
2) Please attach the file in question to the bug report (if it doesn't work via email, please visit the web page of your report and use the link there to attach the file) and provide a list with precise 'steps to reproduce'

Je viens de télécharger la version 0.48.2
J'oublie toujours que Inkscape ne cherche pas s'il existe les nouvelles versions.

The second layer ("complexifier pour le plaisir") contains a locked group:
<g id="g3833" style="fill:url(#radialGradient4631);fill-opacity:1;stroke:#000000;stroke-opacity:1" sodipodi:insensitive="true">…</g>

Seems like the same issue reported earlier in
Bug #845844 “Groups not selectable - turned insensitive (locked) without using object properties dialog”
<https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/845844>

which might be a duplicate of
Bug #304251 “incorrect locking/unlocking -- unlocking the layer locks the group which was choosen to be active”
<https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/304251>

I haven't yet found a way to reproduce this issue -> needs further investigation.

For you to continue working when you encounter such locked groups:
Open 'Edit > XML Editor', select the top-level group in such a layer (in the list on the left), and delete the attribute 'sodipodi:insensitive' of the group in the list in the upper right part of the dialog (or set it to 'false').

AFAICT a group can get locked in two ways:

A - Steps to reproduce expected behavior:
1) draw an object, group it
2) enter the group, add another object inside the group
3) lock the "current drawing level" in the status bar

Result: the current group (shown in the layer indicator widget, entered in step 2) is locked (not the parent layer) and can no longer be selected on-canvas. Unlock with 'Object > Unlock all' in the current layer.

B - Steps to reproduce unexpected behavior (up to Inkscape 0.48.1):
1) draw an object, group it
2) enter the group, add another object inside the group
3) lock the current layer in the 'Layers' dialog
4) save and close window (or 'File > Revert')
5) reopen file and unlock layer in the 'Layers' dialog

Expected result: group can be selected and entered for further editing
Actual result: instead of the layer, the group gets locked and can no longer be selected.

To unlock such groups, use 'Object > Unlock all' for the affected layer, or unlock the group via 'Edit > XML Editor'.

Would you agree to link this as duplicate to bug #304251?

The change of the group status on reopening the document when having saved it right after locking the layer of the currently entered group (drawing level) in the 'Layers' dialog does not occur in 0.48.2 and current trunk -> for new drawings, this no longer happens (bug #304251).

The feature to lock the currently entered group (drawing level) if using the 'Lock|Unlock' icon in the status bar does make sense to me since the label to the right of the toggle button does display the group name and not the layer name. Thus I would not consider it a bug.
