As a workaround, temporarily install 0.47 and edit the preferences as described here:

You can also manually edit the preferences file (if you don't want to install 0.47):
1) in the Finder: use menu 'Go > Go to Folder…',
   enter "~/.config/inkscape" (without the quotes)
2) browse to "~/.config/inkscape" and open 'preferences.xml' in a plaintext editor (TextEdit, TextWrangler, …)
3) search for the string "from_display" and change the value from "0" to "1"
4) save (take care not to have a hidden *.txt suffix added)
5) launch Inkscape
