AFAIK, latest dev version of Cairo and Pixman does have the fixes, but they won't land to major Linux distributions until autumn 2011.

To set release dates we need a 10x as many active team members. Projects like GNOME and KDE can do that, we can't. Especially, as mentioned before, we depend on 3rd party libraries.
There is a whole bunch of things to do for refactoring. For instance, we use some local copies of libraries that are out of date and missing features of their newer upstream versions. If you are willing to help, you'll never be short of tasks to accomplish. That I can promise to you :)
