Here is a patch to try out the basic features ...

* Sort by color, name or usage # (the color sort is based on the 'HHSSLL' value of the first stop)
* Usage # is the total of both fill and stroke usage - should this be just fill or stroke ?
* Inline renaming of gradients
* Repeat combobox has been removed - it is now available in the Gradient toolbar
* Select all objects with the same gradient is now available from the main menu Edit->Select Same->Fill color / Stroke color (or context menu Select Same Fill and Stroke).

All suggestions for changes welcome ...
