Apparently the diff is against the sources from the tar ball release (as used in MacPorts) and doesn't apply to a checkout of the sources from bzr … any chance you could provide a patch against current trunk (lp:inkscape)? Note that there have been many changes in trunk (for 0.49) which will never be backported to 0.48.x.

Any limitations with regard to switching to 'gtk-mac-integration' (e.g. support of building on Mac OS X 10.5.8)?
