Reproduced with Inkscape 0.48+devel r9983 on OS X 10.5.8

I gave up trying to just display the full content of the drawing (let alone trying to edit it), on a MBP with 2.4 GHz Intel C2D and 2GB RAM.

More than half of the file are several pattern definitions (close to 20'000 lines!), one of them very huge (lots of paths), one has AFAICT a nested reference to another fill pattern.

Attaching the file with all pattern definitions removed - opens fast and without slowing down the complete system. I would recommend to use simpler custom patterns to fill parts of the paths (i.e. with fewer objects).

(Firefox 3.6 does load and render the file, but not without slowing down to a crawl and blocking all other tabs, so it is not just an issue that Inkscape has with this type of file structure).
