I'm opening a new bug report, as [[https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171631]] has gone stale (filed 4 years ago - really still no change?)

The above-mentioned report covers the main problem I have, and is best described by the Bug Description and especially the very last post, which I want to reiterate:

<blockquote> "...it would actually be nice to have some way of determining the blur radius on pixels or real units like mm.
I work with web design and it is hard to make blurred outlines or shadows of objects the same radius when the objects are different sizes.

It is not even possible as a feature in the future?"</blockquote>

I do not know if there has been any progress or even an attempt to change or add to this feature, but I really need this on a daily basis. There is absolutely no way for me to precisely control the uniform blur amount of multiple objects, except by visual comparison. For the type of work I do (primarily CD cover designs) I need better control over this feature. Now, I do not know whether this is in fact seen as a bug, or if it is just a matter of different views.

I do not know if I should also (or rather) post this as a feature request, but if so, where should that be? Please advise.

'''Suggestion''': Instead of just a slider and a single entry box for the amount, could it not be implemented more like the '''Fill and stroke > Stroke style > Width'''? This would mean there could be a slider, then a blur radius box (single entry like the current one) and finally a drop down box to choose the unit type. I made a mockup of what it may look like.
