Bug Description
When I switch to layers (ctrl-shift-L), I ever find it set to the smallest possible size, and I cannot work with layers unless I resized the layers box, allthough below there is a lot of unused space on the screen.
I'd love to have sized the layers box as default to the minimum size needed to display all the layers (or as many as possible) - and in addition save the layers box size within the document, so after reopening the doc the layers box has the same size as before.
inkscape 0.47, Mac OS X, X11
