Bug Description

I am trying to vertically center text that has been "flowed into a frame" (or even text that is simply in a text box). I don't see a feature for this in the current Inkscape version. I would like to submit this as a new feature request. I would imagine that such a feature would be added to the "Text and Font" dialog. There are some workarounds to this issue, such as adding line feeds to the text, or using the "Align and Distribute" feature. However, these workarounds can be quite time consuming.

I'm using Inkscape 0.47 on a Debian squeeze/testing GNU/Linux system.

The following forum discussion deals directly with this bug (feature request):
"How to center text in a box" http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4084

The following bugs are similar but not quite the same:
Bug #172116 "add centered text to closed object"
Bug #171105 "Attach text to objects"

Thank you,
Deric

Yes, this does look like the same as bug #497641. Sorry about that. I had searched a number of terms but mostly with the word "center" (or "centre") in it. I should have thought of also using the word "align".
