Bug Description

Inkscape miss the possibility to have a closed object, a rectangle for
example, set with a text centered inside it, like dia offers for quite some
times already (and word even if i don't like to name it).

it would really be usefull for technical diagrams.

It could be implemented by creating a text box inside a shape when you
double-click on it

Is this the same as "adding tekst to shapes"? Like is possible in google draw/visio/dia/libre office draw etc? I was trying to find a feature request for that to see if there is some development on this. I know it is possible to flow text in a shape, but it is all a lot of work. I would just like to add text to a shape and position it in the center/top/bottom/left/etc.

It is for me the only reason i can't really use inkscape for technical diagrams.

If this is indeed the same request, what is the status (this entry was last updated in 2008)
