reproduced with Inkscape 0.47 when changing the OS X System Preference for 'Order of sorted lists' to 'Greek' (language for application menus and dialogs stays set to 'English') while using the 'System Default' as UI language in Inkscape's preferences.

This is an issue with the shell script 'Inkscape.app/Contents/Resources/bin/inkscape' reading $LANG from 'AppleCollationOrder' instead of 'AppleLanguages'.
